The Writers' Consultancy is a literary consultancy working with writers in Ireland and the UK. We will read your work objectively and provide a full critical assessment of your manuscript with editorial feedback that is genuinely useful in helping you to develop your skills as a writer.

Our editors have worked in publishing houses and literary agencies or are published authors and are therefore able to give market-aware editorial advice that will really make a difference to your work. They will be available to talk to you about the report and discuss your work at length with you in an ongoing editorial relationship. The report will above all be empathetic, we appreciate that sending your work to us may be nerve-wracking and we understand how much you put into your writing. But we will be honest – we will not mislead you or make unrealistic assertions about the possibility of success.

Our reports give detailed in-depth analysis of areas such as narrative, characterisation, style, structure and dialogue and are usually between 6 and 10 pages in length, although this varies as they are tailored to meet the needs of the individual.

We handle children's fiction, adult fiction, non-fiction, screenplays and poetry.
We can offer links with Irish and UK publishers and agents and are developing new relationships with publishers and agents on an ongoing basis. If your manuscript is exceptional, we will consider it for submission in whichever market we feel would be appropriate.
