To submit a manuscript to the Writers' Consultancy for an assessment and editorial report
- Please submit your manuscript online as an email attachment, in 12 point font, double spaced with page numbering.
- Please ensure that your name, telephone number and email address are included on the title page of your MS. Please also state the word count of your manuscript.
- We will acknowledge receipt of your manuscript by email or post. Please ensure that you have a back up copy.
- Please include a covering letter with some information about the type of manuscript you are sending, a bit about yourself and any previous experience with agents, publishers etc.
- If you prefer to post your manuscript please print it in12 point font, double spaced on one side of A4 paper with page numbering. Please send a stamped self-addressed envelope if you wish the manuscript to be returned to you, or let us know if you are happy for us to recycle your manuscript.
- Please contact us before you send us your manuscript if you are unsure whether our service would be right for you or if you have any other queries.
- Please send a cheque made payable to The Writers' Consultancy, for the amount due – see How much does it cost? for details of fees.
- The report will take approximately 4 – 6 weeks. It can be sent to you via email or post, so please indicate which you would prefer.

1-2 page synopsis and up to 50 double-spaced pages € 150.00
1-2 page synopsis and up to 100 double-spaced pages € 250.00
Manuscripts of 101-200 double-spaced pages € 400.00
Manuscripts longer than 200 pages @ €1.50 per page thereafter
Up to 30 pages € 100.00
Each additional 20 pages € 50.00
Up to 50 pages € 200.00
Up to 30 pages € 150.00
Up to 1 hour € 250.00
Feature films/TV scripts – up to 2 hours € 300.00
Second Read Fee 75% of first read fee

- We take great care of the manuscripts, both paper and online but we cannot be held responsible for loss of a manuscript in the post so please always keep a back up copy.
- We reserve the right to return your work and payment if we are unable to place it with a suitable editor.
- If no stamped addressed envelope is enclosed we will contact you and request the postage or recycle your manuscript once we have ensured that you are happy for us to do this.
- We cannot guarantee the length of time a report will take, but will do our utmost to ensure that the report arrives within 4 – 6 weeks.
- We are unable to provide a report unless we receive the appropriate fee with the manuscript.
- All correspondence will be treated with the strictest confidence.
- The copyright of your work will remain yours. The copyright of the report will be with the Writers' Consultancy and permission should be sought for its use.
- It is the decision of the Writers' Consultancy to send your work to an agent or publisher and this will only be done if the work is of the required standard and with your permission.
